Dark and Moody - Part III
Did you like the last two blog series? We went over a halloween table scape and setting a cheese platter for a cozy gathering, but now it's time to play a "movie!" Anyone who knows me knows of my dislike for scary movies. I refuse to pay to be scared or spooked! Paranormal activity was the last "real" scary movie I saw, and it had kept me up nights! Sadly, I slept with the lights on for two days straight. However, I do love science fiction with a tad bit of horror and suspense. So, with Stranger Things' second season releasing on Netflix the Halloween weekend, a scary movie night with friends and family sounds like a pretty fun idea! I decided to get my bar-cart ready for the night, and give my mantel an easy makeover for some spooky effect.
A movie night is usually pretty casual and involves lots of popcorn, candy, and snacks. Continuing the dark and moody color palette with some jewel tones into this third and last Halloween series, I’ve styled the cart with more of the cranberry red and white florals, seasonal goodies and props like a haunted house with black crows and spiders, harvest decor pumpkins and pine cone in amethyst and sapphire blue, popcorn in emerald box, trick-or-treat candy packets, desserts, and some drinks along with Apple Cider and Pumpkin Spice! It's about finding the right balance in color, shapes, and size. The cart is ready for the movie night!
Have you watched the first season of this TV show, Stranger Things, yet? If you're into investigative drama, science-fiction horror, and supernatural elements, I highly recommend this TV series. It's like X-files meets The Goonies. We absolutely love this show and look forward to watching it this coming weekend! Just last week my husband binge watched the first season all over again!
Since we'll be watching TV shows, I gave the mantel, mounted on the wall above the TV, and the media console a little lift with seasonal decor. I mixed in some decor items from the previous year with a few new pieces to my collection. I love buying things on sale and stocking up for next year! This is the perfect time to buy discounted Halloween decor items and items which can easily transition into fall or winter for the upcoming holiday. I prefer to not have my home dark or eerie for too long, so I usually lightly touch-up the entryway or hallway for this fleeting holiday. This is precisely why I also enjoy chic parties, so I can start decorating with fall season and Thanksgiving in mind!
What are your plans for this upcoming weekend? I hope you found this series helpful, and can use them to inspire your mind and creative thoughts.
